Item Description

Algodonite is a rare copper-arsenide and mohawkite is an extremely rare compound of silver, copper, arsenic, cobalt, nickel and iron, and is found only one place in the world - Keweenaw Copper District in Michigan (making this obviously the type locality). This very large, impressive, old-time polished slab hosts intermixed steel-gray algodonite with silvery-golden mohawkite and is strikingly accented with pods, veinlets and very nifty, radial quartz crystal clusters. This slab was cut from a very large nodule of these extremely rare combination species. It is REALLY RARE to see such large, unbroken slices! Definitely old-time material with a Wards label taped to the back. Ex Hauck Collection. 953 grams or 2 pounds. valued $1000
