Item Description

Powellite is among the rarest and most desirable minerals from the famed Deccan Trap basalts of India. These two lustrous, yellow-orange crystals are nestled between, and on top of, highly lustrous and pearlescent blades of white Stilbite. The attractive, most euhedral Powellite is 1.5 cm tip to tip, and the Powellites have a brilliant, golden fluorescence. This very aesthetic miniature is showy and a highly desirable combination for this locality. Previously in the Eugene Carmichael collection. From the collection of East Coast collector, George Elling, specializing in historic minerals of the East Coast and minerals from the development of old European mineralogy.
