Item Description

This is a highly unusual specimen for the intensity of color to the powellite! The crystal has not only intense orange color, but also a glassy luster that is equally outstanding. I have seen VERY FEW powellites from India that hav ethe color and luster to hold their own against their relatives, Chinese scheelites....but this is one such! I am really shocked at the quality- that is not meant to be hyperbole. It is just, so incredibly unusual, even amidst thousands of tons of Indian zeolites being mined each year. The contrast to the matrix of sparkling quartz druse, on whcih sits bright and lustrous, shimmering apophyllite crystals, just takes the piece to the next level. It is an outstanding piece from a species and locality which people get blase about, because inferior examples are common. This, though, is special. Valued $3000
