Item Description

From the famous locality that produces the classic "pineapple"-shaped groups of Opal replacing Calcite after Ikaite, this is a lovely piece of Precious Opal featuring a stark white background that hosts wonderful multicolor flashes. When rotated in the light, you can see the front (polished) face of the specimen shows bright reds, oranges, gold, yellows, greens, blues, and purples. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#858). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Velt" November-December 2017).
