Item Description

Prehnite has always been a popular gem among collectors because of its lovely green color, but the supply of good gem material has always been sporadic. The recent Prehnite discoveries in Mali has produced some great cutting, cabbing and carving material. This material has a very unique and attractive "soft" almost "velvety" appearance. This gem is fairly good size for the material, and is quite gemmy, which is not terribly common in my experience. You can see it has a bit of an wispy internal haze, but nearly all Prehnites show a little bit of this quality. The stone has an "Oval Cabochon" cut. Considering this is relatively new material, you probably don't have one yet, and it's a great gem to fill a spot in your collection.
