Item Description

Juicy, lustrous, translucent, mint-green, bladed prehnite botryoids fill a large sculptural vug in basalt matrix on this rich and showy specimen from this old extinct quarry, that was originally mined for copper near Glasgow (MINDAT). The hole in the vug adds pizzazz. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 10467 and acquired from the Lidstrom's in July, 1984. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Velt" November-December 2017). The locality has produced fine prehnite and Zeolite Group specimens and this is excellent large example.
