Item Description

The Alpine desposit at Bourg d'Oisans is the type locality for well-known species like Epidote, Anatase and Axinite-(Fe), but it has also produced some of the most iconic and beloved Prehnites in the world. This piece is a great example of said material featuring slightly curved, somewhat blocky, soft "water green" colored orthorhombic crystals of Prehnite which are scattered all over the display side of this attractive near full sized cabinet specimen. The largest aggregate of crystals measures 8 mm long. VERY gemmy, and beautiful to view up close. This is classic Bourg d'Oisans Prehnite, and well-known around the world. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#9535). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
