Item Description

A significant large two-sided matrix prehnite pseudomorph from this less well-known New Jersey Trap Rock basalt quarry. Pretty mint-green lustrous and translucent prehnite has replaced a dense sculptural cluster of blocky glauberite crystals on the 3-dimensional basalt matrix. The two dominating, well-placed central pseudos are up to 3.0 cm long. Prehnite usually pseudomorphs anhydrite crystals from other well-known New Jersey Trap Rock basalt quarries, making these exceptional specimens from the Fanwood Quarry unique. Complete all-around and pristine in the interior. The noted periphery wear on one side is certainly acceptable in the context of this uncommon large 360-degree matrix specimen. The basalt matrix on one side adds real pizzazz and contrast to this outstanding specimen from the 2002-2004 finds. A HIGHLY DESIRABLE and rare New Jersey pseudomorph from the Dr. Ed David Collection, who passed away in February, 2017. Ed was Science Advisor to President Nixon and assembled several world-class mineral collections. Valued at $750-1000.
