Item Description

Classic, curved helmet-shaped, glassy, translucent, very pale green to nearly colorless prehnite crystals are dramatically stacked on gneiss matrix on this sculptural and excellent three-sided small cabinet from this less well-known Swiss locale. Prehnite specimens are known from here, but are seldom on the market and this is a good one. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 594 and acquired from Scott Williams in the late 1940s or early 1950s. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record).
