Item Description

The O & G Quarry in Woodbury, Connecticut is a well-known trap rock quarry that has produced some attractive zeolites and associated minerals. The Prehnites from this locality are well-known to collectors for their range of beautiful colors and desirable botryoidal forms. This cabinet display specimen is a really cool "cast" featuring a coverage of beautiful, "water"-green botryoidal Prehnite on the top/display side, but when you flip the piece over, you'll see it's hollow inside and features a beautiful layer of attractive golden-yellow botryoidal Prehnite, creating a rarely seen and wonderful bi-colored effect. The piece is in excellent condition all around, except where it was contacted after being removed from the pocket wall. A beautiful and now fairly hard to find example of this classic material, and a must have for any fan of Prehnite or trap rock minerals. Ex Charlie Key collection. Charlie is arguably the most successful dealer of the second half of the 20th century, along with being the namesake for TWO mineral species (Keyite and Ludlockite).
