Item Description

When these pieces first hit the market, they were a big hit, both for the fact that they were from a completely new discovery in an unlikely part of the world (the Kayes Region in Mali), and the fact that they were fine quality to boot. Additionally, these pieces were found in good sized display specimens, making them all the more desirable for collectors. These soon-to-be-classics are easily recognizable as they feature distinctive Prehnites often associated with Epidote, and they are arguably the most eye-catching examples of the combo that have ever been found. This piece is a showy and three-dimensional full-sized cabinet filled with attractive "water green" color, translucent, spherical groups of Prehnite which are sitting on dark greenish-brown, thick prismatic crystals of Epidote on matrix The largest Prehnite group measures 2.2 cm across. The vast majority of the Prehnites are undamaged, though the a few on the edges are contacted where the piece was separated from the pocket wall. Overall it's a very presentable and good quality example of what will be some of the most well-known and iconic Prehnite specimens from any world locality. Valued at $2,000.
From the worldwide mineral collection of geologist, Demetrius Pohl.
