Item Description

An impressive, old-time, LARGE CABINET specimen of primary malachite from the famous mines at Bisbee. The intensely hummocky, 3-dimensional piece looks like a green coral reef composed of sintered-looking, botryoidal malachite. Sparkly, tiny calcite rhombs are richly sprinkled on a portion of the reef and the fringe of brown calcite rhombs are very nifty accents. Much of the sturdy gossan matrix on the back is also coated with calcite rhombs. Essentially pristine, this monster has only very trivial edgewear. This is very fine, old material from this historic district and must be at least 70 years old. Ex Dennis Mullane Bisbee Collection. 3.7 pounds or 1.7 kilos.
