Item Description

Rare and desirable silver species rarity: this shows off a 5 mm, highly lustrous, beautiful indigo-blue crystal. This simple cube is not so simple. Actually it consists of two layers and two species: the pseudoboleite epitaxially (meaning, with oriented growth) grown on athe cubic faces of a cubic boleite crystal. It is aesthetically set on the small cabinet clay matrix. The stepped-growth faces are diagnostic of the pseudoboleite epitaxial on the boleite cube, and well known from old finds of the turn of the 1900s and again in the 1970s. The clay matrix has been stabilized. See the 1998 Mineralogical Record articles in Mexico Special Issue I, Vol. 29, No. 1. Excellent material from the famous Amelia Mine at Boleo, the Type Locality area for Pseudoboleite, Boleite and Cumengeite.
