Item Description

This thumbnail sized piece is a hard to find specimen of Pucherite, a very rare bismuth vanadate species, and the orthorhombic dimorph of Clinobisvanite (monoclinic) and Dreyerite (tetragonal). This species is named after the type locality, the Pucher Shaft in Schneeberg of the Erzgebirge (Ore Mountains) in Germany. This piece is from Hohenstein (specifically the Point 14.0 locality) and features a micro crystal (measuring about 1 mm) of dark reddish-brown Pucherite on Quartz matrix. A great rarity, and certainly a hard to find example from this classic locality.
From the collection of Vasco Trancoso, a medical doctor and prominent mineral collector from near Lisbon, Portugal (https://www.mindat.org/user-11954.html). He assembled his mineral collection over the course of 60 years, and built a fine worldwide display collection that we recently purchased.
