Item Description

Bright, beautifully gemmy and lustrous, cherry-red, pyrargyrite crystals to 3 mm are nicely scattered about in the vuggy matrix of sparkly galena, lustrous jet-black sphalerite and bright, brass-yellow pyrite crystals on this very rich, old-time, combination ore specimen from the famous silver mines at Hiendelaencina, Spain. The district was discovered in 1843 and primary mining lasted until 1866. The last mine closed in 1924. Specimens are occasionally found today. With this richness, this has to be classic, older material. Ex Wes Parker Collection.
