Item Description

A classic group of sharp, metallic, soft brassy colored, Pyrite crystals from one of the most classic localities for the species. This piece shows a combination of pyritohedrons with octahedral modifications, and the largest crystal measures 1.7 cm across. No matrix, the piece is crystallized all the way around, but not quite a complete "floater" as there some contacted areas / points of attachment that can be seen. It's a very nice example of Elba Pyrite, and should be appreciated for its wonderful form and size.
From the collection of Richard ("Rich") A. Kosnar (1946-2007), the well-known mineral dealer and collector from Colorado. Rich named his company Mineral Classics because of his love of old European classics like this piece.
