Item Description

The famous Eagle Mine produced some of the finest crystallized Pyrite specimens from any mine in Colorado. The crystals are almost always pyritohedral in habit and show superior luster and form. This miniature sized specimen hosts several excellent quality, sharp, splendent, soft golden metallic colored crystals showing classic striated pyritohedral form, free of matrix. The largest crystal measures 3.0 cm across. The piece is in great condition on the top / display side, and the only damage is on the bottom where it was removed from the pocket wall. The piece displays well on its own without the aid of a base or clay. A very attractive display specimen of this well known material from this now defunct locality. From the collection of Leigh Price, formerly of Evergreen, Colorado.
