Item Description

A beautiful, three-dimensional crystal group of sharp, well-formed, bright metallic golden color octahedral crystals of Pyrite from one of the most classic of Peruvian localities. If you look closely, you can see the edges of the octahedra have thin dodecahedral modifications, which is not terribly common from this locality. The piece has such eye-catching form with sculptural appeal and excellent "depth" of crystals, not just a "flat" plate. Nearly every crystal is undamged, though there are a few small imperfections, but the small amount of edge wear is forgivable. A lovely large hand-sized display specimen of this well known material. The largest individual Pyrite crystal measures 2.2 cm at its longest dimension. A different kind of Pyrite that would make a great addition to any sulfide suite or a collection of Peruvian minerals. Valued in the inventory at $1,800 and a great bargain for the starting bid.
