Item Description

The Siglo XX mine is probably best known for its phosphate species, but there are some very attractive Pyrite specimens that come out from time to time. This piece is a wonderful display quality specimen featuring razor sharp, VERY lustrous, cuboctahedral crystals of Pyrite with smooth broad faces, which are overgrown by tiny sparkling Pyrites crystals, free of matrix. The specimen is in excellent shape, with only a few tiny nicks here and there, and this piece is honestly one of the best Pyrites from this locality that I have offered in the auctions in a while. The largest Pyrite measures 2.4 cm across. This is certainly an interesting and VERY worthwhile specimen to add to a Pyrite collection, a suite of sulfides or a collection of Bolivian minerals. The majority of Pyrites from the Siglo XX mine have such terrible damage that they wouldn't even be worth the cost of shipping to bring them back to the States, but this is an excellent Pyrite specimen for your collection.
