Item Description

A complete "floater" crystal of Pyrite from what was formerly referred to as Striegau, but is now known as Gmina Strzegom. This beautiful pyritohedron is arguably the best single Pyrite crystal we've had to offer from the locality. Sharp and complete all around with a beautiful antique soft golden metallic hue, but my favorite aspect of the piece are the wonderfully pronounced and slightly raised "cathedral" faces that can be seen on select faces. A wonderful example of these elusive Pyrites that have not been available on the market for decades. A must have for any thumbnail collector or a fan of worldwide Pyrites. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#4416). Kay was a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics. She nearly lived 100 years from April 1920 - March 2020. See the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record ( https://www.mineralogicalrecord.com/pdfs/Kay%20Robertson%20Collection.pdf ), and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017.
