Item Description

Although Pyrite is a common sulfide around the world, you don't see a lot of Pyrite specimens from Franklin. This piece is more of a micro specimen, but it does feature very attractive, brilliant, splendent, bright golden metallic colored pyritohedrons of Pyrite (some with tiny trapezohedral modifications) measuring about 0.5 mm sitting in pale beige porous / weathered Dolomite. We had a lot of fun looking at this one under the microscope, and photographed it with a Canon MP-E 65 macro lens to better illustrate the quality. From the collection of Richard A. Kosnar, famed mineral dealer and the namesake for the phosphate species Kosnarite. The piece is also accompanied by a label from noted Franklin mineral dealers, Helen and Ewald Gerstmann.
