Item Description

A beautiful octahedral Pyrite specimen (with small cubic modifications) from Zacatecas, Mexico. Unfortunately no specific mine was given, but the fact that it's an octahedral Pyrite from Mexico makes it significant. There are not many localities for good quality octahedral Pyrites in the world, and places like Butte, Montana or Quiruvilca, Peru are among the better known producers of this particular habit, but Mexican material is seldom seen. The Pyrite crystals on this specimen have bright golden color and lovely, smooth metallic faces. Despite a bit of roughness, it's still a very good specimen of this extremely hard to find material. A great piece for any Pyrite collector, a sulfide collector or a thumbnail collector. From the worldwide thumbnail / miniature collection of Irv Brown.
