Item Description

A striking and excellent elongate cluster of large and sharp, lustrous, brassy pyrite pseudomorphing incredibly complex marcasite crystals from the famous Nanisivik Iron Mine, above the Arctic Circle, on Baffin Island, Canada. This mine closed in 2002. The striking large crystal is 2.8 cm. The pseudos rest on a bladed hematite matrix topped with scattered calcite scalenohedrons. The incredibly diverse forms of pyrite pseudos are unique to this locality. Complete all-around, with only modest periphery wear, which is certainly not detracting. Choice, outstanding material. Ex Larry Krause dearler stock. Valued at $200..
