Item Description

Please note: I'm copying the locality information from the label on this one, but I can't find a listing for this locality. I can't even find any area where Pyrite has been reported near Braunschweig. If anybody out there has some more insight into where this piece came from, please let us know. With that said, the specimen hosts sharp, lustrous, soft golden metallic crystals of Pyrite up to 5 mm covering two sides of the host rock matrix. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#3388). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
