Item Description

Intergrown splendent metallic sprays of pyrolusite after manganite crystals form a dramatic, aesthetic and VERY RARE pseudomorph specimen from either of the two localities MINDAT lists for both species in Andalusia or Catalonia Provinces. MINDAT features no photos from either locality. The Catalonia locale is the Serrana Mine (Manganese Mine) and the Andalusia locale is the famous ancient Rio Tinto Mines. Rare perhaps unique old pseudomorph material from the Kay Robertson Collection # 10663. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record).
