Item Description

A very good quality and hard to find specimen of Pyromorphite from Roughton Gill. These specimens can often feature small, sometimes pale and non-descript "needles" of Pyromorphite of an unpleasing color, but this piece is very striking. It features resinous, beautiful green color, prismatic crystals of Pyromorphite measuring up to 1.1 cm long on a thin bit of oxidized matrix. The Pyromorphites are beautiful up close, but there is a bit of damage as some crystals are broken. Great quality all around with good color and form. Valued at $750. he piece almost reminds me of the classic Pyromorphites from Les Farges, France. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#7055). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
