Item Description

When it comes to world-class specimens of Pyromorphite, a few localities like the Les Farges Mine in France or the Bunker Hill Mine in Idaho have produced some of the most iconic, classic and desirable examples ever found. The finest contemporary specimens of green Pyromorphite are those from the Daoping Mine in China, which have been coming out since the early 2000s. Certainly, the finest of these specimens are simply as good as any other Pyromorphites from virtually any world locality. A source in China has told us that the area of the Daoping Mine that produced these pieces is finished and we may never see these superb Pyromorphites again unless a new area is opened up. This toenail sized piece features good quality, sharp, lustrous, well-formed, notably skeletal / "hoppered" crystals of hexagonal Pyromorphite with a lovely Granny Smith apple green hue. A good three-dimensional display specimen of these now classic specimens. No major damage that I can see, and the piece is virtually crystallized all over, so I'm calling it a complete "floater". A wonderful piece of this now hard to find material.
