Item Description

A classic, showy and unusual old-time pyromorphite from the renowned Bad Ems District. All sides of the stalactite are covered with lustrous, translucent hexagonal prisms, to 9 mm. There are two distinctively brown colors on this piece. The barrels are reddish-brown on one side and classic light brown on the other. Interesting pocket chemistry here! Complete all-around and in great shape, with only a few bruised crystals on the sides. Both ends of the stalactite were contacted with the vug walls, which is certainly acceptable in the context of this fine piece. It comes with a 1951 Schortmann's label from their New York City sale. Classic Bad Ems pyromorphite.
