Item Description

Fine, highly representative specimen from the famous Les Farges Mine, one of the world's great Pyromorphite localities. Active only from 1975 to 1981 (sacre bleu, such a short time!), it is known for its tremendous diversity among the Pyromorphite crystals produced there. One habit so associated with Les Farges are the hexagonal, barrel-shaped crystals with almost mustard-yellow terminations. Here, these crystals range up to 8-9 mm, and they present themselves quite nicely. There some crystals that have lost their terminations, but more than enough remain to create an attractive small cabinet specimen emblematic of this renowned mine. Formerly in the collections of Jack Crowley and Frank Hissong. From our special collection sale, direct to auction, of choice material from the collection of Richard Rossi, East Coast collector and Mineralogical Record Fellow.
