Pyromorphite on Malachite

Item Description

Small apple-green Pyromorphite crystals cluster together against a matrix of deep, forest green Malachite, on this super-fine small cabinet-sized piece from a classic find in the Rum Jungle. The luster on these hexagonal crystals is high, and the color is uniform and attractive. The habit is sharp, with many of the crystals being doubly-terminated. The two colors of green contrast nicely with one another, and the aesthetics, to my eye, are excellent. This is classic material from this old deposit but with a special aesthetic overall! This was recently deaccessed from the extensive collection of Bob Reynolds, who cherished both minerals and fossils as he collected. Bob is a prolific author and has had several curating positions in museums.
