Pyromorphite on Quartz (classic locale) ex Whitmore Coll.

Item Description

Translucent and lustrous, light and dark olive-green pyromorphite prisms to 3 mm richly cover the quartz matrix on this showy old-timer from the famous mines at Phoenixville. Primary ore production was from 1847-1854! Additional ore production took place from 1918-1920. I suspect this piece is from the later production, as we have previously offered at auction another similar specimen from the Robert Whitmore Collection that had a label on the back. Excellent, rich and very rarely available material from this locale.
