Item Description

A glassy, complete all-around, pseudo-hexagonal quartz crystal with a gemmy termination serves as matrix for a rich and nicely angled band of elongated brown pyromorphite prisms on this uncommon locality piece. Few specimens of this very fine combination quality have been preserved. The gemmy pyromorphites reach 5 mm and rest on a striking quartz crystal matrix. The famous Black Pine Pine (known for superb veszelyites) opened in 1882, as a silver mine. This excellent piece probably dates to the 1970s-early 80s mining period. Ex Robert Whitmore Collection.
