Item Description

Pyromorphite is VERY RARE from famed Tsumeb and was found only in the old Upper Oxidized Zone. Lustrous, translucent, straw-yellow, classic hexagonal prisms, to 6 mm, are dramatically festooned on all four sides of the sculptural, tabular, monolithic matrix. Exceptional, rich and rare old-time material from the Kay Robertson Collection # 876. Her note indicates, that the piece was collected PRIOR to World War I and was formerly in the Keuser Collection. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). Kay is noted for her broad knowledge and excellent documentation of specimens. There are over 11,000 mineral specimen photographs in the MINDAT Tsumeb photo gallery, but ONLY one pyromorphite photo! An essentially unique rich specimen. Value?? A minimum of $2000 would be fair we estimate.
