A striking and colorful dense cover of two generations of lustrous, translucent, apple-green pyromorphite microcrystals covers the impressive matrix plate of Triassic-aged sandstone of this very rich and showy large specimen from this ancient lead mine, where mining ceased around 1880. The larger 2nd generation crystals look like a dense forest next to a rich green grass covered plain. Old, classic, excellent and seldom available material.
