Pyromorphite (Steve Smale Coll.)

A sculptural, 3-dimensional, 360-degree mounded solid crust of juicy, rich apple-green tapered pyromorphite spindles, to about 1.5 cm. This is among the richest, lushest and rarest green hue you will see from the myriad of varietals from Daoping and the tapered prism style is rare. The iron oxide coatings add contrast and color. A fine, colorful and rare style of pyromorphite from the famed early 2000s finds at the Daoping Mine. A bit of bruising is noted in the dense interior and along some of the edges, but this remains an excellent example of this style and rich color. The striking scalloped crust on this solid pyromorphite specimen adds an additional element of interest. Ex Steve Smale Collection, one of the great mineral connoisseurs of our time. I obtained this in a large trade with Steve over 10 years ago when they were still more or less contemporary. They ARE still quite unique amongst the other styles.
