Item Description

Pyromorphites from the state of Chihuahua are classics, but very hard to find on the market. Typically the specimens feature only crystals of Pyromorphite and are rarely seen with associated Calcite. This piece is most likely from the San Luis Mine, but it came labeled only as Chihuahua, and it could be from a more obscure locality. Sparkling radiating groups of greenish colored Pyromorphite are gently covering sharp, well-formed, stark white Calcite rhombs measuring up to 1.6 cm. If you collect thumbnails, secondary ore minerals or minerals of Mexico, don't miss out on this one. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#9144). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
