Item Description

Pyrosmalite-(Mn) is not found in many world localities, and specimens from the Kyurasawa Mine in Japan are exceedingly rare. We have photographed the specimen with a Canon MP-E 65 mm macro lens to better illustrate the quality and enhance the detail. This is the only piece of this species that we have to offer of this material and comes with a classic label from Josef Vajdak / Pequa Rare Minerals. You can read Joe's biography here: http://www.minrec.org/labels.asp?colid=1371 Joe's label says that the Pyrosmalite-(Mn) is the blackish-green material, but I believe this is a mistake as I think the pink areas are infact the Pyrosmalite-(Mn), and the black could just be Manganite. There may be some manganese-bearing Spessartine or a member of the Fayalite-Tephroite series, but I can't accurately identify them. A label from Komuro minerals is included with the specimen as well. Do not miss out on this one if you collect rare minerals or hard to find material!
