Item Description

Here is something that is not often seen on the market. As a matter of fact, I believe this is the ONLY specimen of this material that we've had to offer. It comes from the Migiandone Mine in the Piedmont of Italy, and according to mindat.org, the mine dates back to 1880. This specimen features bronze colored crystals of Pyrrhotite associated with sharp golden-brass colored Chalcopyrite plus Quartz on matrix. The largest Chalcopyrite crystal on the specimen measures 1.5 cm. For the most part, the piece is in good shape, with only a few contacts, but this is INCREDIBLY rare material, and were it not for the old label from Wards that accompanies the piece, we would have had no idea where it was from. A great association specimen of this incredibly hard to find material that dates back probably around a century.
