Pyrrhotite with Fluorite (RARE Chinese locality)

Item Description

A very hard to find specimen from the Bairendaba Ag-polymetallic deposit in Inner Mongolia, roughly 50 km north of the Huanggang deposit. This piece is the only Pyrrhotite specimen we've had to offer in the auctions, and if you collect minerals from China, this is a RARE locality piece that you're not likely to find anywhere else on the market. It is only due to our close contacts in China that we were able to obtain the piece. This beautiful small cabinet features many attractive pseudo-hexagonal groups of metallic soft bronze colored Pyrrhotite measuring up to 2.1 cm across, which have a selective coating of soft grey-white colored, compressed tabular Calcite crystals, but the really eye-catching feature of the piece is that it hosts a handful of GEMMY, rich purple and golden bi-colored dodecahedral Fluorite crystals measuring up to 1.7 cm across, which glow with color when backlit. Although neither Pyrrhotite nor Fluorite are rare minerals, it's rare to find them together from any Chinese locality, or anywhere else in the world for that matter. The main crystals on the top / display side of the specimen are all in great condition, but the lower portion of the piece is forgivable contacted where it was separated from the pocket wall. Choice, rare material, and certainly worth picking up for the incredibly hard to find locality.
