Item Description

Translucent to gemmy, this cluster of Rose Quartz crystals is from the pegmatite fields in the Nuristan and Kunar provinces of Afghanistan. The gemmy, crystalline core splays out into individual crystals that reach up to a full 3 cm, which is an amazing size for any Rose Quartz. Even though this variety is fairly common around the world, there are only a handful of localities where well-crystallized display specimens such as this are found. Thus, part of the romance of this small cabinet piece is that Afghanistan is obviously not what comes to mind when one thinks of Rose Quartz specimens. Resembling Brazilian Rose Quartz, this is likely from the small Afghani finds of around 2001. It is definitely not the usual size and quality for Afghani material - it is much better, in fact, that it closely resembles Brazilian rose quartz - but, is more rare.
