Dreamily architectural and wonderful large 360-degree quartz crystal cluster from this much less well-known quartz crystal locality for famous Arkansas quartz crystals near well-known Mt. Ida - the Avatar (formerly Arrowhead) Crystal Mine. The striking jackstraw jumble of classic, beautiful water-clear crystals is dominated by the dramatically set 9.0 cm sharply terminated crystal. Adding much pizzazz and uniqueness, the Grotto at the base on one side is fascinating. For all the crystal density, there is very minimal damage. You can barely tell, that the base of the large quartz and three nearby points are broken. The noted periphery wear around the base is certainly acceptable in the context of this exquisite specimen. Ex John Whatley Collection, a well-known Georgia collector (1939-2022). John had many interests and hobbies. His favorite hobby was collecting rocks and minerals and he was a member of the Augusta and Aiken, SC Gem and Mineral Society.
