Item Description

A really cool and unusual specimen from the classic San Juan Mining District in southwestern Colorado. This piece features a beautiful, well-formed epimorph (replacement) of bright, gemmy Quartz crystals after a single tabular crystal of Barite which is sitting on gemmy/translucent, sharp Quartz crystal matrix. There is a lovely golden hue that can be seen in the piece, which is probably caused by some iron inclusions. I haven't seen anything quite like this from this specific mine, and if you're a Quartz collector, I have to be that you don't have one of these in your collection from the Dawn of Day Mine. The piece was collected by Robert Stoufer in 2009, and comes from the personal collection of Brian Kosnar.
