Item Description

One of the classic Quartz / Agate-lined geodes from Las Choyas, Mexico featuring crystallized multicolor (smoky, purple {Amethyst} and white / colorless) with beautifully banded blue Agate around the periphery. The interior of the specimen features attractive compressed bladed Calcites measuring up to 4.2 cm. The piece is polished showing colors ranging from a soft silvery-blue around the exterior edges with small areas of nearly colorless and purplish banding. Some attractive fluorescence can be seen under UV light as well as seen in the last photo. This piece comes from the collection of Willard W. Wulff (1904-1998) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, a prominent figure and collector of Colorado minerals. Wulff was one of the founding members of the Colorado Springs Mineralogical Society in 1936. You can read Willard's bio on the Mineralogical Record website here ( http://www.minrec.org/labels.asp?colid=1528 ).
