Item Description

A rarely seen specimen of Quartz from the famous Emilio Mine (best known for its Fluorites) in Spain. These pieces are somewhat similar to the classic specimens from Berbes, but have their own distinctive appearance. This full sized cabinet features a predominant, very sharp, well-formed, highly lustrous, colorless Quartz crystal with a distinctive pyramidal habit on the front, though a more pronounced prism face can be seen on the reverse side. The main Quartz crystal is doubly-terminated, which is not often seen in this material in my experience. Many smaller Quartz crystals can be seen overgrowing the big Quartz, giving the piece three-dimensional appeal and character. A bit of small black hydrocarbons can be seen included within the Quartz crystals for a nice touch. Large sections of the specimen are RATHER GEMMY but it's rather difficult to show in the photos. This particular specimen was mined in July of 2005. Priced in the inventory at $3,500. From the collection of Raul Orellana. Specimen weight is 297.6 grams.
