Item Description

An attractive Quartz specimen featuring several sharp, lustrous, translucent, prismatic, white hexagonal crystals measuring up to 3.8 cm long on massive white Quartz matrix from the Buttercup Pocket in the Amphitheater Glacial Cirque east of the town of Ouray in the San Juan Mountains of Colorado. I've never seen a piece from this pocket before this specimen, and it would make a great addition to any Quartz suite or a collection of Colorado minerals. Most of the main crystals are undamaged, and some even have an attractive secondary overgrowth of Quartz along the prism faces. From the collection of Gary Weaver of Prescott, Arizona (1944-2019). Gary was an electrical engineer who worked for many years for Hughes Aircraft in California. You can read Gary's obituary here https://www.dcourier.com/news/2019/apr/27/obituary-gary-richard-weaver/
