The nice thing about the dispersal of the Wein Collection a few years back was the rich availability of Alpine specimens, as well as odds and ends such as this that are quite rare and hard to obtain. Yes, this is a BERBES quartz specimen - not a New York "herkimer"! Ever seen one like this from Berbes? When you hear Berbes, you think fluorite and barite, not a fine quartz specimen. This is a floater, with the crystals haveing grown together, and no attachments. There are some tiny rounded pyrite crystals inclusions inside the crystals.
