Item Description

Rich brick-red hematite coats and is included-in this striking large cluster of elongated translucent quartz points on this sculptural two-sided specimen from China and the Paul Zerfass Collection # 159. The stunning large crystal is 6.7 cm and the points rest on a bed of hematite iron-roses. The large primary crystals are pristine. Interesting chemistry here, as the prisms are preferentially very glassy and lustrous or have a matte moderately lustrous finish. The piece looks great from either side and displays well without aid. Broken crystals in the interior and periphery wear are noted, but this remains a very fine example of the combination species with much richer red color, than you usually see from the locale. This small well-known hill is worked by locale farmers. The crystals have a fine red glow, when backlit.
