Item Description

This piece is not only fine quality with razor sharp faces and high luster, but it actually shows a habit that is not terribly common around the world. These crystals are very similar to habit seen at Herkimer, NY and these could easily be mistaken for "Herkimer Diamonds" without the label to say otherise. I can't find any real damage with the naked eye, and it's such an interesting Quartz crystal in terms of habit. Many razor sharp, highly lustrous, GEM quality, colorless crystals of doubly-terminated (mostly bi-pyramidal) Quartz crystals measuring up to 1.6 cm sit beautifully in a thin layer of matrix. Great quality and very eye-catching in person, so don't let the photos fool you, it's better when you hold it in your hands. From the collection of the long time, beloved, well-known French field collector, Paul Zerfass (Collection #525). Zerfass built this worldwide collection over nearly 50 years, many of which were personally collected. A biography featuring specimens from his collection (along with his face on the cover) is in the May - June 2017 issue of French mineral magazine, Le Regne Mineral. We have a .pdf copy of the article for anybody interested in reading it (though it's mostly in French). Just drop us a line and know that you'd like to have a copy.
