Quartz (''Herkimer Diamonds'') (ex Rich Kosnar Collection)

Item Description

A beautiful thumbnail sized specimen of the famous "Herkimer Diamonds" from upstate New York. This specimen is comprised of a few Quartz crystals of superb GEM QUALITY and utter colorless purity, free of matrix. The crystals are razor-sharp, lustrous, and show textbook hexagonal faces. Most of these specimens are repaired, but after looking at this one closely, I feel like it might NOT be repaired because I can't find any evidence of glue or any "gaps" between the crystals. A really attractive and special example of these world-famous Quartz specimens. From the collection of Richard Kosnar (1946-2007), the well-known mineral dealer and collector from Colorado, and notably the namesake for the rare potassium zirconium phosphate mineral, Kosnarite.
