Item Description

An attractive and colorful two-way plate of sharp hematite-included quartz crystals from this extinct Pb-Zn deposit, that operated from 1923 to 1960 (MINDAT). The glassy, lustrous, transparent to translucent crystals have rich brick-red inclusions, that are preferentially accented with speckles and layers of black hematite. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 11619 and acquired from well-known French dealer Alain Carion at the MSSC Show in 1988. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). An uncommon and very showy quartz varietal from Aouli.
